Conceptualizing, drafting, assessing, reviewing, and updating climate change and green growth-related policies, strategies, and implementation plans.

Formulating and developing rigorous and well-structured documents for submission by member-countries to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), including in relation to governments’ National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs), National Communications, and other procedural and technical reports.

Assessing project/programme concepts for viability for GCF finance; identifying most suitable GCF access modality; advising on project/programme focus and structuring for enhancing GCF-eligibility; framing project/programme for high consistency with GCF investment criteria, results management framework, performance management framework; and drafting climate change focused GCF submission documents.  

Determining a project’s/programme’s likely eligibility for climate finance; evaluating a project’s match to climate funders’ investment criteria and portfolios; and assessing (through qualitative and quantitative methods) and documenting anticipated climate change impacts and benefits from a proposed project/programme, plus environmental, social, and health co-benefits.

Undertaking studies of past or ongoing climate change related activities, projects, and programmes; investments and finance-flows; institutional structures, governance arrangements, legal and regulatory instruments; key stakeholders and influential actors; and technical, administrative, and budgetary capacity – to identify critical gaps, needs, entry-points for effective action, and to inform future climate change investments and evidence-based action.

Analyzing and identifying existing levels of climate change mainstreaming, plus recommending options for further integration of climate change consideration into activities, projects, and programmes; investments and finance-flows; and institutional structures, governance arrangements, legal and regulatory instruments.

Reviewing and interpreting different climate change related legal and regulatory instruments; producing comparative studies; identifying best practice; and recommending options for adoption.

Conducting climate change risk and vulnerability assessments in line with conceptual frameworks and methodological guidance from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), for sectors, countries, and sub-national regions such as provinces, states, districts, municipalities, or cities; updating or enhancing climate change risk and vulnerability assessments; and interpreting results of such assessments

Researching, structuring, and drafting climate change information products such as country / city / sector climate change profiles and fact-sheets encapsulating: available climate change science (including observed trends and projections for climatic variables such as temperature, rainfall, evaporation, extreme weather events); existing and anticipated climate change impacts; relevant climate change policy, legal, and regulatory landscape; major climate change achievements and implemented solutions, with estimated results; and all relevant climate change-related social, economic, demographic, and environmental characteristics.

Designing, facilitating, and delivering events such as workshops and training seminars aimed at skills and knowledge-transfer on a wide range of climate change-related issues; drafting and developing reader-friendly climate change knowledge products and training materials.

Conceptualizing, structuring, and drafting technical proposals related to climate change project opportunities, on behalf of clients, including development of Expressions of Interest and full technical proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RfPs), utilizing a technically sound interpretation of the Terms of Reference (ToRs) and a compellingly articulated methodology and approach.

Responding to unique client needs to design and deliver customized climate change related research and analysis solutions, on a case-by-case basis after consultation.
